I'm a multimedia reporter covering security issues, primarily the conduct of Western nations in the current war against the Islamic State. Previously based in Cairo, New York, Istanbul. Arabic student. Other interests include migration, the Middle East (especially Egypt, Syria, Iraq & Libya), the Nile basin, East Africa, transparency issues, crime, international law & development. I mostly write and do #dataviz these days, but I'm a big fan of radio, video docs and experimental storytelling.

Always interested in new cross-border projects, particularly if they involve some of the areas listed above :-)
