Dataharvest/EIJC, the European Investigative and Data Journalism Conference organised by Journalismfund.eu, is the most relevant networking event for investigative and data journalists in Europe. Dataharvest/EIJC15 will take place on Friday 8, Saturday 9 and Sunday morning 10 May 2015, with a pre-conference Hackaton on Thursday 7 May. Like the previous years, the conference will take place in the centre of Brussels.
The project EU Community is building platforms to analyse and 'harvest' the abundance of information on EU affairs. The platforms are based on the EU's open data sources and expert input via crowdsourcing tools. The first platform, EurActory, will introduce a rich directory of EU professionals, analysed and ranked based on their expertise. The second, PolicyLine, will introduce a visualisation of policy processes and the public debate surrounding them. Both platforms are developed in open format. Through APIs, data journalists and analysts can tap into the EUWhoiswho, EUR-Lex and several other databases on EU affairs to research and scrutinise EU policy-making actors and documents.
