TTIP – Analysing the secret deal

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

The trade deal between the US and the EU is a hot political issue. But it is also complex and secret and thus a particular challenge for journalists. We set up a single-subject news-website for TTIP to cover the topics in long term and in depth analysis. Our aim is to explore how to obtain information in an atmosphere where even minor minutes are kept secret. And we develop tools to explain the complex issues. We use network analyses and plagiarism software to shed light on lobby activities. We hope that our website will become the meeting point for an interested community and attract more material. TTIP is a genuinely European topic and information as well as publication should be considered in that light. In this workshop we want to share our thoughts on opportunities to break the secrecy of the deal and hope to develop a European network for journalistic collaboration.
